At Hoshiyama, the last one-platform station in the Japanese mountains, elderly stationmaster Kenzo has kept the 4:47 running on time for fifty-one years. He is also the final master of a forgotten martial art — the On-Time Style — where every blow must land precisely on schedule. When a new bullet line threatens the station with demolition, Kenzo must take on an unlikely last disciple: Taro, a delivery boy who is late to everything. As the two prepare for a showdown against the demolition company's own enforcer, Kenzo discovers that Taro's chronic lateness may be the one weapon no one can defend against — and confronts the grief that made him a slave to the clock in the first place.
